Pacific Community Center (PCC) is a Christ-centered community center situated on a 6.6-acre campus in the Inland-Pomona Valley of Southern California. Located in Upland, California, at the base of the beautiful San Gabriel Mountains, PCC is a parachurch ministry of the Pacific Conference of the Brethren in Christ Church U.S.

PCC’s vision:  For Multiple ministries addressing spiritual, intellectual and physical needs, promoting celebration and fellowship of God’s people, training for and teaching of discipleship, peacemaking and biblical justice, and meeting human need through benevolence and service.

Executive Director Qualifications

We seek an experienced, visionary, and entrepreneurial Executive Director to sustain and expand the organization’s positive impact in the community. The Executive Director will work closely with the Chair and Executive Committee of the PCC Board to provide strategic direction and oversight to organizational programs, long-range strategic planning, staff management and development, fiscal management (including grant management, business planning, board and fund development), marketing and publications, and facilities management.

  • Personal commitment to support the Articles of Faith and Doctrine and the Core Values of the Brethren in Christ Church U.S.
  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage and develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage facilities and monthly budgets
  • Past success working with a Board of Directors, with the ability to cultivate and develop board member relationships
  • Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people (bilingual experience a plus)
  • Willingness to stay abreast of governmental regulations that may affect the operation of the Center, as well as meet with local agencies and the Upland Planning Commission as necessary
  • Passionate, ethical, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor Degree from four-year college or university (nonprofit management or business degree preferred)
  • At least 3-5 years of executive management experience (or leadership equivalent) in a small to mid-sized business or nonprofit
  • Track record of effectively leading a performance and outcomes-based organization and staff; ability to point to specific examples of having developed and implemented strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth
  • Membership in a professional organization (such as the Association of Fundraising Professionals – AFP) and/or Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) certificate preferred, but not required

The Board is committed to improving and expanding the quality of facilities and programs, while developing a long-term strategic plan and building the foundation for a successful fund development program.
