LifePoint Church – in Harrisburg, Pa. – is looking for either a part time (25-30 hours a week) or full time (43-45 hours a week) director for our LifePoint Kidz ministry. This director position involves organizing and leading our nursery, pre-school, and elementary age children’s programs.

In addition to a passion for children, we are looking for candidates who have the ability to schedule and recruit teachers; demonstrate excellent teaching skills in large and small groups; demonstrate the competency necessary to lead effective teams;  and who work well with other staff, parents, and ministry team members. A degree in student ministries, teaching or a related field is helpful, but not required.

Ministry Overview

The LifePoint Kidz Director position involves organizing and leading our nursery, pre-school, and elementary age children’s programs. The Director is responsible for scheduling and recruiting teachers, teaching effectively in large and small groups, leading effective teams, and working well with other staff, parents, and ministry team members. This staff person will establish specific strategies and initiatives based on the large group- small group model and our Gather- Connect- Serve strategy.

Ministry Responsibilities

1- Develop, lead and oversee the LifePoint Kidz Children’s Ministry (approx. 25-30 hours per week)
  • Oversee the major responsibilities of LifePoint Kidz including staff recruitment, screening, and development, curriculum acquisition and usage, scheduling, and vision casting
  • Utilize a large group/small group ministry model
  • Decorate and update kids’ areas with fun themes that demonstrate excellence and create interest
  • Set and implement goals for our children’s ministry consistent with our Gather- Connect- Serve framework
  • Develop the LifePoint Kidz ministry team through regular fellowship, intentional affirmation, training events and one on one contacts
  • Communicate regularly with parents, volunteers, and the larger church with regular e-mail and a monthly newsletter
  • Arrive early on Sundays for a pre-service walk through and to make sure the ministry is firing on all cylinders
  • Research and implement a possible mid-week LifePoint Kidz program
  • Brainstorm new and innovative ways to communicate through the use of technology, social media, and out of the envelope thinking
  • Meet regularly with local children’s ministry leaders for fellowship, brainstorming and new ideas
2- Organize and lead LifePoint Kidz Outreach Events (within weekly time frame)
  • Plan, promote, and organize our Easter Eggstravaganza
  • Plan, promote, and organize a Summer VBS program
  • Plan, promote and organize with the Lead Pastor a Sunday morning follow up service the week of VBS

3- Utilize your other gifts and pursue other ministry initiatives and interests as time allows. (within weekly time frame)

Time Commitment

Part Time Role: 25-30 hours

Full Time Role: 43-45 hours
