  • Job Status: Part-time 20-22.5 hours/week (potential for future expansion)
  • Reports to: Senior Pastor
  • Supervises: designated volunteers, 5-7 other staff members as mutually agreed upon with Senior Pastor

Goals

  • Work collaboratively with the Senior Pastor to lead the EBIC ministry team in fulfillment of the congregation’s mission and vision
  • Coach and support designated staff members in goal-setting, decision-making, and problem-solving
  • Give administrative leadership to assigned ministry projects and initiatives

Requirements

  • A vital commitment to Christ and demonstrated spiritual maturity and resilience
  • Ability to provide executive leadership in a relational, pastoral manner
  • Ability to prioritize, take initiative, and advance multiple projects at an appropriate pace
  • Strong interpersonal communication and consensus-building skills
  • Desire to “lead from the second chair” in support of the ministry of the Senior Pastor
  • Ministerial credentials with the Brethren in Christ U.S. or willingness to pursue credentialing
  • Previous experience in a pastoral and/or administrative role preferred

Responsibilities

Staff Oversight

  • Provide an appropriate blend of direction, support, and accountability for designated staff through listening, open communication, and regular meetings
  • Guide staff members to translate into action the congregational mission and goals as led by the Senior Pastor and Church Board
  • Lead staff members to work interdependently and collaboratively, eliminating “silos,” and move toward Christ-honoring management of conflict
  • Oversee a regular evaluation and feedback process for each position

Senior Pastor Support

  • Nurture a close working relationship with the Senior Pastor supported by regular communication and coordination
  • Facilitate hiring, salary-setting, and transitioning of designated staff roles
  • Plan and implement staff meetings that include training, team building, and ministry coordination

Projects & Initiatives

  • Muster the resources necessary and lead in the accomplishment of short-range ministry initiatives and tasks, with an emphasis on delegation
  • Ensure that the systems, practices, and policies of the church responsibly and effectively support its ministry to people

General Pastoral Ministry

  • Participate in various aspects of the worship services as scheduled
  • Assist with preaching, teaching, and pastoral care ministries when needed and available
  • Provide a visible and accessible pastoral presence at events and activities as able
  • Participate in the ministry and activities of the BIC U.S. and Atlantic Conference
