The BIC U.S. World Missions Assistant will collaborate with the BIC U.S. team to support the work of BIC U.S. World Missions as well as the broader work of BIC U.S. The World Missions Assistant should exhibit the ability to manage projects and coordinate details.

The World Missions Assistant is a ministry position within the World Missions department of the Brethren in Christ U.S. The position reports to the Director of World Missions and will be an integral contributor to the World Missions team.

  • Prior missionary experience or the openness to pursue missions training and BIC core courses

  • Communication Proficiency – Effective oral and written communication skills in English (required) and Spanish (preferred)

  • Technical Capacity – Proficiency with the application of information technology in an administrative setting, including use of social media, Constant Contact, email, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Organizational Skills – Experience in organizing and administrating simultaneous projects

  • Support mobilization and training efforts
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of short-term mission trips
  • Collect articles from World Missions staff and create monthly Global Team Newsletter
  • Help to create reports, agendas, and minutes for various meetings
  • Coordinate events and various online meetings as assigned.
  • Administrate existing international children’s education program and assist with program evaluation and promotion.
  • Oversee maintenance and scheduling of missions’ properties and vehicles
  • Manage general missions email account, schedule meetings
  • Develop FAQs in response to inquiries from missions constituents
  • Support international program management by reviewing strategic plans and suggesting edits to provide clarity and consistency
  • Assist with the administration of Partnership Handbook projects
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands of the Work Environment

This position operates in a church office environment and requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and routinely operating standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The World Missions Assistant position requires mobility within the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. This role also involves travel domestically, and infrequently internationally, and requires the ability to move outside the office and the visual acuity to operate motor vehicles.

The World Missions Assistant position recurrently requires remaining in a stationary position, handling or controlling objects, tools, or controls; reaching and stooping; communicating, discerning, and discussing within both public and private contexts. Employee may be requested to lift and carry up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision (such as needed in viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading), distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
