Allison Conrad grew up in the borough of Mechanicsburg, a town on the outskirts of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She began attending Mechanicsburg BIC (McBIC) with her family in seventh grade after being invited to attend McBIC’s youth group by friends at school. Although she had grown up in a Christian home, it was in these later middle school years when she began to take her walk with Christ seriously.

Since making the decision to follow Christ wholeheartedly, she has not looked back. Passionate about helping middle school students deepen their faith, Allison served as a youth leader for middle school girls at McBIC while in high school. She also served with McBIC youth ministries on four mission trips, which God used to open her eyes to his plan to reach the nations.

After graduating from Mechanicsburg Area Senior High School, Allison decided to attend Kutztown University, desiring to be a witness for Christ on a secular campus. Knowing that she wanted to one day teach English in foreign countries as a means of sharing the gospel, Allison majored in secondary education English and minored in Spanish and teaching English as a second language (TESL). While studying at Kutztown, Allison became involved in her campus Christian Fellowship group and began hosting many Bible studies.

As she closely studied the Bible, her passion for missions increased. Allison went on a mission trip to Colombia with her Christian Fellowship group in August 2016. Although the purpose of their trip was to minister to native tribes and the permanent missionaries in the jungles of Colombia, their tour guide ended up taking the team on an unscheduled visit to El Camino Academy (ECA) in Bogotá, even though she had no prior knowledge of Allison’s dream to teach English in foreign countries. Allison immediately knew that her heart aligned with ECA’s vision and mission, but she first had to return to the United States to finish her last two years of college.

In January 2018, Allison began prayerfully considering what to do with her degree upon her upcoming graduation from Kutztown in May. Seeing that there was a need for ESL and English teachers at ECA, Allison decided to apply for the position. She will begin serving in July 2018 and will see how long the Lord leads her to remain at ECA.
