SPICE exists to break the cycle of poverty for underprivileged children in South Asia.
The Sponsorship Program for International Children’s Education (SPICE) is a holistic, Christ-centered, child development program. By providing education, group housing, and proper nutrition, SPICE enables children to live out their God-given potential.
Established by Brethren in Christ missionaries in the 1960s, SPICE began as an outreach to children in India. Today, SPICE serves more than 800 children across nine hostels in India and Nepal.
Children range between five and eighteen years old and are largely from rural communities. Often, because local schools are too far away or families lack the necessary funds, these children are left without access to education.
Through SPICE, however, children are given opportunities they might not otherwise have. In fact, many of India’s and Nepal’s current church leaders have grown up through the SPICE program and now serve as teachers, local officials, evangelists, church planters, pastors, and church administrators.
