Krista Barnes

- Currently serving: Shell, Ecuador
- Home church: Zion BIC, Celebration Church
- Serving since: 2025
Krista’s journey has been shaped by profound experiences of God’s faithfulness and healing. At a young age, she faced trauma that could have defined her path, but God met her in brokenness, bringing restoration and hope. This redemptive work ignited a passion to share the Gospel and walk alongside others as they experience his transformative love.
Krista’s professional background includes 20+ years of leadership experience in corporate America, where she developed skills in team building, strategic planning, and effective communication. These experiences equipped her with tools for leadership and service that were carried into her ministry. Additionally, years of working with youth as a mentor and leader taught Krista the importance of relational ministry and the power of investing in the next generation. Serving on her church’s prayer team and freedom ministry deepened her understanding of the power of intercession and the importance of seeking God’s guidance in every aspect of life. Krista’s role on her church’s mission council expanded her perspective of the global church and the urgent need to reach those who have not yet heard the Gospel.
God began to stir Krista’s heart for the nations through involvement in various ministries and short-term mission trips. Krista felt the specific call to Ecuador during her first trip there in 2022 while ministering in a village that had not heard the Gospel. God confirmed Krista’s call to Ecuador through dreams, visions, and scripture. During worship one day, Krista conceded to give her life to the Lord’s will, which is for all nations, tribes, and tongues to worship him. Krista left her corporate career in 2024 so that she could focus solely on missionary development.
Krista’s ministry is rooted in the Great Commission and guided by a desire to see lives transformed through the power of Christ. Specifically, she seeks to:
- Build relationships with indigenous tribes and immerse in their culture to share the Gospel in meaningful and respectful ways
- Mentor and disciple youth, equipping them to be future leaders within their communities and the global church
- Serve as an intercessor and encourager, walking alongside individuals as they grow in their faith and become disciples who make disciples
While answering the call to serve in Ecuador, Krista is supported by her two sons, Jayden and Kevin. Jayden works as the Youth Coordinator at their home church in Jacksonville, FL and Kevin plans to attend college after graduating in May 2025. Their encouragement and dedication inspire Krista to pursue this mission with confidence and faith.
Krista is humbled and honored to answer God’s call to serve in Ecuador.
