Middle School Youth Pastor

About

Mechanicsburg Brethren in Christ Church, informally known as McBIC, is located just outside the downtown borough of Mechanicsburg and is looking for a full-time middle school youth pastor who will continue the tradition of fun, depth, vulnerability, and safety currently found in the youth ministry.

This person will work closely with the high school youth pastor to provide rich discipleship to adolescents both within and outside the church. They’ll also oversee a robust adult volunteer team, ranging from high school students to older adults, who mentor and disciple the middle schoolers. The larger congregation of McBIC has strong buy-in to the development of their teenagers and often sees teens leading worship, serving in children’s ministry, and more.

The new pastor will join a thriving staff that partners together to lead the church as a whole. McBIC is committed to being a place of healing and wholeness for the entire Mechanicsburg community and often partners with outside organizations to do so.

Qualifications

• Youth ministry experience (staff, volunteer, or intern)
• Experience leading a team and communicating vision
• Growing in Christ through prayer, Scripture reading, and community with other believers
• Collaborates well with pastoral staff and with volunteer leaders
• Gifted as a public speaker/communicator, especially in the areas of preaching and teaching
• Has strong one-to-one relational skills to be used in pastoral care and counsel
• Demonstrates a clear sense of God’s call to the position, specifically to middle school students
• Has a teachable spirit and is committed to professional growth and development
• Takes initiative in the workplace and can self-manage projects and commitments
• Committed to maintaining child protection policies and procedures within youth ministry
• Committed to the church’s mission and philosophy of ministry

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop and communicate vision for middle school youth ministry
• Provide leadership development for adult volunteers and teens
• Oversee pastoral care and programming for middle school students
• Responsible for administrative tasks of middle school ministries
• Create discipleship opportunities for middle school students and their families
• Collaborate with high school youth ministry and kid’s ministry
