Part-Time Latin America Regional Coordinator

The Latin America Coordinator advances disciple-making and church multiplication by collaborating with regional leaders in Mexico, as well as Central and South America. Over a three-year period, this role is intended to help establish BIC conferences with indigenous leadership. 

This role will accomplish tasks for both BIC U.S. and BIC World Missions under the supervision of the World Missions director. The role will also provide support for the long-term BIC U.S. missionaries serving in the region, in collaboration with the Regional Administrator and the BIC U.S. World Missions Leadership Team. 

Part time: 20 hours per week

Qualifications & Competencies

The following qualifications are found to be essential in the work of the Latin America Regional Coordinator:

  • A growing relationship with Jesus Christ and alignment with BIC U.S. values and mission
  • A credentialed minister within BIC U.S., strongly preferred, if not currently credentialed the successful candidate should pursue credentialing within the 1st year of accepting this position
  • Gifting and commitment to developing local leadership while also providing contextualized pastoral care
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; Spanish language proficiency required, bilingual ability in English preferred
  • Effective organizational, planning, budgeting and time management abilities
  • Familiarity with church health and growth principles
  • A sound knowledge of missiology including an understanding of the history of Christian missions
  • Capacity to communicate the Gospel in a culturally relevant manner
  • Skills to integrate theology, history, anthropology and methodology to coach those who are planting and nurturing responsible, reproducing churches
  • Creative and innovative problem-solving skills
  • Skilled in managing priorities and balancing short- and long-term goals
  • Proficiency with, Outlook, email, and MS Office Suite

Essential Responsibilities

The Latin America Regional Coordinator carries the following responsibilities:

  • Support existing congregations in Latin America as they develop:
    • An understanding of BIC values and identity
    • Local conference identity with contextually appropriate systems and structures for missional growth 
    • Leadership development pathways 
      Note: Conference development is in process in Cost Rica, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Guatemala, Ecuador, and Argentina. 
  • Identify opportunities for BIC U.S. World Missions to establish ministry among lesser reached people groups. Assist in recruiting missionaries to fill these posts. 
  • Collaborate with BIC U.S. World Missions in the support of existing missionaries within the region
  • Make, at a minimum, one annual visit to the region per year.
  • Assist the church throughout the region upon request of the supervisor and as time and resources allow. 
  • Available to travel on short notice should an emergency develop.
  • Attend meetings as requested – Typically 2-3 meetings in the PA office per year. 
  • Attend 2 administrative cabinet meetings per year, in person or by zoom, when in attendance participate as a voting member.

In consultation with the Director of World Missions and by mutual consent, responsibilities may be shifted or shared between the BIC U.S. staff in accordance with gifting, training, and need.
