Job Summary

The Sanctuary Campus Pastor will provide leadership, connections, discipleship, and care for the Sanctuary Campus of The Meeting House (TMH). This full-time position will require a firm grasp of the vision and priorities of TMH and a proven track record of building teams, shepherding congregants, and leading and collaborating with other staff and volunteers.

Responsibilities

Pastor the Sanctuary Campus

  • Primary shaper of a culture of welcome, values, and mission of TMH at the campus.
  • Working with other staff to ensure Sunday morning services are creatively and thoughtfully planned.
  • Lead campus staff: monthly campus meetings and bi-weekly/monthly one-on-ones.
  • Preach within the rhythms of the team preaching model as requested.
  • Establish and lead a campus-specific leadership team.
  • Oversee and champion the holistic discipleship opportunities of the Sanctuary campus; Deepen, Gather, and Go.
  • Embody the vision of reaching more people with the message of Jesus.

Facilitate Connections with church-wide ministry

  • Collaborate and maintain regular communication with the Lead Pastor, Campus Pastors, and other staff to support TMH-wide and campus-specific ministry efforts.
  • Connect campus members and attendees with TMH ministries and opportunities for service to the campus.
  • Execute other duties assigned by the Lead Pastor depending on the campus pastor’s gifts, capacity and passions of the campus pastor and the needs of TMH.

Provide ongoing care

  • Ensure the development and continued improvement of care ministries to serve the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of members/attendees, including routine and emergency hospital visitation.
  • Appropriately and expediently respond to and/or follow-up on crisis situations; participate in TMH on-call pastoral rotation; provide counsel and facilitate care for Sanctuary community members in times of crisis.
  • Provide oversight for Carlisle care ministries, including Grief Share and Visitation teams.

Requirements

  • 5+ years pastoral experience and/or other vocational church ministry, including preaching/teaching and oversight of staff/volunteers and experience with care-related ministry
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or seminary
  • Belief in Anabaptist thought on Jesus, Scripture, two-kingdom theology, the peace position and community, as well as the Core Values and Articles of Faith and Doctrine of the Brethren in Christ U.S.
  • Credentialed (or willing to be) by the Brethren in Christ  U.S.
  • Computer proficiency; comfortable using email and other web-based systems for inter-office communications
