Short Term Trips

We lead others to explore the breadth of the global Church and inspire the next generation of global workers.

Our short-term trips (one to two weeks) offer a unique opportunity to connect with believers across cultures, encounter God at work around the world, and grow deeper in personal faith. Facilitated by World Missions staff, these trips enable participants to step out of their comfort zones, serve alongside global faith leaders, and expand their understanding of the worldwide Church.

Samos Island, Greece

June 2027*

Samos Island lies just off the coast of Turkey and currently hosts over 3,000 refugees in the Zervou Camp. The conditions at Zervou Camp are severely lacking and directly affect people’s physical and mental health. This team will partner with local ministries to meet practical needs and foster restorative community.

Many of the people the team will serve have never encountered Christians before. As such, our team members should approach this trip with a posture of servanthood, an attitude of learning, and a heart to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

You will have an opportunity to engage with people from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Afghanistan, and other Middle Eastern countries. You will partner with a local ministry in serving each week through fellowship, Bible study, kids programming, and meals.

This trip is for those discerning God’s leading toward long-term cross-cultural ministry among lesser-reached people groups and greater involvement in his global mission.

  • Age requirement: Participants must be at least 18 years old.
  • Trip length: 1 month (exact dates to be announced)

Bogotá, Colombia

June 2027*

El Camino Academy (ECA) is a non-profit, interdenominational Christian school in Bogota, Colombia. They serve foreign missionaries and Colombian Christian families. ECA is interested in teams serving for their June Jamboree each summer. This is a weekly program that is offered to students ages 5 to grade 6. Programming includes math, science, music, drama, arts and crafts, and sports.

This would be a great trip for all ages to serve together. If your church is interested in sending a team, contact Vicky Landis at vlandis@bicus.org for next steps and to receive training resources. The team leader should be trained in the Standards of Excellence in short-term trips. After this training is completed, you will be connected directly with El Camino Academy to plan your visit.

Dearborn, Michigan

August 2027*

Dearborn, MI, is home to the largest population of Arabs in the U.S., many of whom are first or second generation immigrants or refugees. We partner with a local group to host English and math camps for refugee children to help them continue to do well in school. This is a unique opportunity to help refugee families in a very practical way while sharing Jesus’ love.

We will lead three teams to run the camp for three consecutive weeks. Please indicate in your application which of the three weeks you are applying for.

Team members should approach this trip with a posture of servanthood, an attitude of learning, and a heart to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Northeast Thailand

Each December, our team in the region runs programs that share the Christmas story with students in local schools. For many students, this is the only time they will hear the Gospel message. Partner with our local team to help share this message of Christmas hope.

Many students coming to these programs have never encountered Christians before. As such, our team members should approach this trip with a posture of servanthood, an attitude of learning, and a heart to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
