Maize purchased with these funds being distributed to church and community families facing hunger in Milange, Mozambique

BIC U.S. has authorized $15,000 from the Global Compassion Fund to fight hunger in Mozambique. According to a report by FEWS NET (Famine Early Warning Systems Network), a leading provider of early warning and analysis on acute food insecurity, much of Mozambique is currently experiencing a crisis-level food shortage. This includes areas with BIC churches, such as Tete, Sofala, Manica, and the southern Zambezia provinces.

Reports released by FEWS NET (Famine Early Warning Systems Network), a leading provider of early warning and analysis on acute food insecurity, prompted BIC leaders to make the disbursement. FEWS NET predicts an increased need through March 2017.

Of the committed $15,000, $7,500 has currently been disbursed to the BIC Church in Mozambique. The final $7,500 will be released in November.
