This spring, the Susquehanna Regional Conference is pleased to announce their new scholarship: the Brethren in Christ Learning & Leadership Scholarship. It was created to support students who value their BIC identity and are pursuing a course of study in any major with a heart for service to Christ and his Kingdom.
“We believe God is raising up another generation of godly men and women to continue Kingdom work in the coming decades,” says Bishop Heather Beaty of the Susquehanna Conference. “We see this scholarship as one way we can support the development of young BIC Christian servant-leaders who are preparing for this work.”
Though facilitated by the Susquehanna Conference, the scholarship is open to all students from any of the seven BIC U.S. conferences. To be eligible for the scholarship, students must:
- Be active in a local BIC congregation, though not required year-round if there is no BIC church close to your college or university.
- Be enrolled full-time pursuing an undergraduate degree at an accredited U.S. Christian college or university.
- Be engaged in leadership and service opportunities.
“While we are encouraging all BIC U.S. students to apply and consideration will be given to all applicants, the selection committee will prioritize applicants who are Messiah University students and/or children or grandchildren of credentialed BIC ministers,” says Bishop Heather. “We believe this is a way that we can support our pastors and students and continue developing high-capacity BIC servant-leaders.”
Bishop Heather adds that scholarships granted from year to year may differ, depending on the funds available for that calendar year and the number of applications they receive.
To apply to receive grant funds for the 2026-27 academic year, application materials must be received by May 15, 2026. Awards will be determined by June 30, 2026.
