As the Brethren in Christ U.S. family, we value making decisions together. This year, delegates representing our collective family of congregations gathered in Miami, Florida, July 24-27 to form our General Assembly.
This 2026 General Assembly together made the following decisions based on the recommendations of the General Conference Board:
Recommendation 1
The 2026 General Assembly adopted the General Conference Board’s decision to approve the General Assembly 2024 minutes.
Recommendation 2
The proposed Amendment to Article 2.4 in the Bylaws of BIC U.S. was adopted. The changes are marked below in bold underlines:
Recommendation 3
The proposed Amendment to Articles 7.1 and 7.2 in the Bylaws of BIC U.S. was adopted. The changes are marked below in bold underlines:
Recommendation 4
The proposed Amendment to Article 11 in the Bylaws of BIC U.S. was adopted. The changes are marked below with strikeouts and bold underlines:
Recommendation 5
A new Article 8 in the Bylaws of BIC U.S. was proposed.
Following discussion from the General Assembly floor, General Conference Board (GCB) amended article 8.2.1 of their recommendation by deleting “from” to clarify which groups this new Article 8 applies to:
The founding group, whether
froma congregation, Regional Conference, or BIC U.S., should follow a process for forming a Ministry Organization outlined by Leadership Council and shall comply with Section 8.3 of this Article (“Governing Documents”) and all applicable laws in establishing the Ministry Organization.
The recommendation was approved as amended.
Note: This new article is an insertion, not a replacement. In the 2026 Manual of Doctrine and Government, there will be a renumber of the Articles that follow the new Article 8.
Recommendation 6
The proposed Amendment to Article 11 in the Bylaws of BIC U.S. was adopted. The changes are marked below in bold underlines:
Recommendation 7
The appointment of General Conference Board (GCB) Members was adopted, including five new members: Dustin Sider, Anler Morejon, Steve Airth, Daima Herreria, and Kyle Letner. GCB members now include:
- Steve Airth – Member at large
- Ray Chung – Member at large
- Sherri Flohr – Member from the Allegheny Conference
- Daima Herreria – Member at large
- Bonnie Hershberger – Member at large
- Abby Kean – Member from the Great Lakes Conference
- Tom Law – Member from the Pacific Conference, Chair
- Kyle Letner – Member at large
- Jacob Lougheed – Member at large
- Brian Mbuu – Member at large
- Anler Morejon – Member from the Southeast Conference
- Georgia Myers – Member at large
- Kevin Noll – Member at large
- Naomi Smith – Member from the Susquehanna Conference
- Dustin Sider – Member from the Atlantic Conference
- Denise Young – Member from the Midwest Conference
- Alan Robinson – Ex officio member
Adam Forry, Rachel Diaz, Jonah Langenderfer, and Jose Rodriguez concluded their time on GCB. We thank them for their service.
Recommendation 8
Board members of the Brethren in Christ Foundation were adopted, including one new member, Moises Garcia. The BIC Foundation Board members now include:

- Twila Glenn
- Jeremy Spear
- William Strausbaugh
- Alan Robinson
- Kevin Noll
Anler Morejon concluded his time on the BIC Foundation Board; we thank him for his service.
