New Community Brethren in Christ Church is a loving family of faith that seeks to grow with young families in Southern CA. This congregation currently meets in Chino, CA, a suburban setting in the increasingly diverse inland empire. This church is situated between the San Gabriel Mountains to the north and the beaches of Orange County to the south, about 40 minutes east of Los Angeles.

New Community was founded in Pomona in 1988 by 4 young couples with a vision for multicultural community. Today, as the larger Los Angeles basin has continued to evolve with new communities of Chinese, Korean, and Indian families, the church is open to exploring new ways to share the Love of Jesus.

As Pastor Mike Shipman prepares for retirement, the congregation at New Community is looking to welcome a bi-vocational Lead Pastor to guide them into what lies ahead. Pastoral leadership in this body should balance care for existing members with creative outreach to nearby pockets of culturally diverse seekers. The congregation currently rents space from an established Nazarene church and is open to exploring a new location in line with unfolding ministry vision of a new pastor.

Key to success in this work will be the ability to both develop new outreach while providing ongoing care and teaching to the existing congregation. Candidates must be able to be licensed by the Brethren In Christ U.S. If interested in applying for this position, please send a resume and cover letter to Bishop Bill Donner of the Pacific Conference of the Brethren in Christ U.S. at bicpacific@bicus.org.
