To create intentional disciple-making pathways enabling EBIC to fulfill its vision of seeing every generation growing together as Christ’s hands and feet in our world. This entails creating and equipping functional teams that foster welcoming environments for all pursuing Jesus from the moment they walk through our doors until they are connected and assimilated into our church family. The following areas are encompassed:

Qualifications

  • A personal and maturing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ that is visible to others
  • Humble, hungry, and smart (i.e., relationally intelligent, eager to take initiative in continual learning, growing, and self-awareness)
  • Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills
  • Desire and ability to work within a staff culture that is team-oriented and feedback-driven
  • Ability to manage conflict in a loving and discerning way
  • Able to mentor others with wisdom, grace, and love
  • Giftedness in public teaching, preaching, and various forms of communication.
  • Proven skills in Small Group ministry contexts, specifically in group leadership and leader training.
  • Current pastoral license or desire to pursue licensure within the Brethren in Christ Church
  • Agreement with the Brethren in Christ Core Values and BIC Articles of Faith and Doctrine

Responsibilities

1-Discipleship Pathway

  • In collaboration with the Lead Pastor, develop a strategic pathway that clarifies our core areas of discipleship and allows for a clear and consistent approach to discipleship
  • Develop and communicate other forms of discipleship outside of EBIC Groups (i.e. triads, mentorships, etc.)

2-Intergenerational Groups

  • Recruit and coach group leaders
  • Plan, promote, and implement EBIC seasonal groups 4 times/year through online and paper catalog
  • Lead training sessions for group leaders 2-3 times/year
  • Lead an intergenerational group when available
  • Oversee and equip the leaders of the Young Adult Ministry, Women’s Ministry, and Men’s Ministry

3-Welcome Team

  • Recruit, schedule, and coach volunteers for the following roles: Welcome Center Host, Greeter, and Usher
  • Lead various trainings and huddles to equip our volunteers

4-Assimilation

  • Implement the “New Guest Experience Plan” to create welcoming environments and provide a process for moving people from first-time guests to committed EBIC members.
  • Create a system that tracks, connects, and assimilates new attenders
  • Oversee monthly Meet & Greet events and personally connect with guests/new attendees as possible
  • Provide support to Lead Pastor in the Belonging @ EBIC groups

5-Other Responsibilities

  • Staff liaison for volunteers covering the Library
  • Preaching as requested
  • Attend EBIC church events and BIC denominational events as requested

Hours: 40 hrs/wk with potential for FT hours (Monday-Thursday, Sunday) and some weeknight responsibilities
