Grantham Church is an inter-generational, convergent, third way congregation within the Brethren in Christ U.S. Located in Mechanicsburg, PA next to Messiah University, we are a historic church that is deeply committed to our theological streams (Anabaptism, Pietism, and Wesleyanism). We are a congregation of 400-450 people located between a university and a retirement village in one of the fastest growing areas of the state.
We are reimagining and rebuilding for a post-COVID world within a post-Christian America. We desire to make disciples, lead others to the God who looks like Jesus, and be the difference our community needs.
Grantham Church is seeking a full-time Discipleship Pastor who will lead and oversee all key discipleship initiatives (including small groups, learning communities, peer discipleship and accountability groups, etc.) to help our congregation engage in all spaces of the church (i.e., public, social, personal, and intimate spaces) and become a thriving missional congregation.
This position will be heavily focused on developing and growing our sermon-based small groups as the primary vehicle for discipleship, deepening relationships and community, and providing organic congregational care. Attention will be given to assimilation, connection, and helping people discover their gifts for ministry and service. The Discipleship Pastor will also assume some preaching, teaching, and other pastoral care duties.
The ideal candidate will be an energetic, motivated, collaborative, servant-leader who has a passion for making disciples. This individual will have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, enjoy building relationships in an inter-generational congregation, and be committed to long-term leadership. Successful candidates will also have a seminary degree (preferred), previous church ministry experience, and an understanding of our theological streams and shared values.
To apply, please submit a cover letter describing your approach to spiritual formation and discipleship, as well as your experience with growing small groups. Also, attach a resume detailing your professional experience and send to our Senior Pastor David Flowers at firstname.lastname@example.org.
