Position Summary
This medical personnel (doctor) will improve the quality of care that hospitals can provide. They will serve as medical officer in a BIC hospital (Mtshabezi or Phumula) and carry out all normal hospital medical procedures. They will work with the hospital administrator in an effort to make the hospital program run smoothly and effectively. This team member(s) will integrate in healthy ways with the team already in place in the country. Those interested should have a long-term view, a missionary heart, and a commitment to the Church.
Qualifications Required
- Proclamation of the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the authority of Scripture
- Active participation in a local congregation in the place of service
- Adaptability to different cultural and social environments
- Emotional, social, and spiritual growth
- A life-style based on biblical teaching
- Sensitivity to local believers regarding appropriate dress, standards of living, and cultural expectations regarding the use of alcohol
Expectations
The participant is expected to adhere to all policies, including the personal covenant, included in the BIC U.S. policy manual. To perform the role successfully, individual(s) should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position:

- Dependability: the individual follows instructions and responds to leadership direction
- Safety and security: the individual actively promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures outlined by BICWM policy
- Practices the presence of God: active in prayer, spiritual disciplines, and accountability

- Incorporates prayer, Biblical understanding, and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit’s leading into training and planning
Performance Standards
- Work and encourage any local doctors on staff, as well as nurses, etc., to perform professionally
- Serve as a spiritual mentor for staff members
- Model a Christian lifestyle to staff, patients, and community
- Attain annual goals established between Team Leader and Regional Administrator (Ministry Agreement)
