Accountable to: Team Leader, Regional Administrator (indirectly)

Position Summary

This additional team member(s) would start a new work (outreach to university students) in conjunction with existing work (city house churches), as well as engage in evangelism along with the existing team members in Thailand. Team member(s) will have a focus ministry among university students. They will study the language and be involved with discipleship upon completion of the language study. They will teach English, and integrate in healthy ways with the team that is already in place in the country.

Qualifications Required

  • Proclamation of the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the authority of Scripture
  • Active participation in a local congregation in the place of service
  • Adaptability to different cultural and social environments
  • Emotional, social, and spiritual growth
  • A life-style based on biblical teaching
  • Sensitivity to local believers regarding appropriate dress, standards of living, and cultural expectations regarding the use of alcohol

Expectations

The participant is expected to adhere to all policies, including the personal covenant, included in the BIC U.S. policy manual. To perform the role successfully, individual(s) should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position:

  • Self-Starter: initiates connections and builds relationships with students
  • Safety and security: the individual actively promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures outlined by team leaders in the country
  • Incorporates prayer, Biblical understanding, and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit’s leading into training and planning

Performance Standards

  • Study Thai during the first year (intensive study)
  • Initiate and build relationships with students at one (or several) universities in Ubon
  • Secure employment in teaching English (for meaningful contribution to community and to meet visa requirements)
  • Attend team meetings
  • Attain annual goals established between Team Leader and Regional Administrator (Ministry Agreement)
