Adult Bible Quizzing
BIC Bible Quizzing has been around since the 1950s. Throughout its existence, it has afforded teenagers the opportunity to study the Word of God (currently in an 8-year-cycle of 1 and 2 Corinthians; John; Hebrews 1 and 2 Peter; Matthew; Romans and James; Acts; Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians; Philemon, and Luke) and has allowed them to form bonds with other teens throughout the denomination. Of course, it has also provided them with a game where they compete against other teams, both at monthly meets and tournaments that culminates in the denominational finals held in July.
But it has always been for teenagers; that is until now. The idea has been floated to have both teens and adults quiz at General Assembly at Messiah College this July. Adults, of course, being those who are too old to participate in teen Bible quizzing. This idea came about due to a similar tournament that occurs every January in Michigan called All Timers. This tournament allows both quizzers and adults to quiz against each other. However, at General Assembly, the idea is to have two separate competitions, one for the teens quizzing on all of 1 and 2 Corinthians, and one for the adults quizzing on 1 Corinthians 8-15.
The question is whether there is enough interest from adults to have their own separate competition. Thus, this is an invitation to any who can no longer quiz and would be interested in doing so, regardless of whether you have quizzed before or not, as long as you have quizzed with a BIC church before or currently attend a church within the BIC denomination. This invitation extends to both teams of adults and individuals; just because you cannot get a team together does not mean you should not be able to quiz. If you are interested, please contact Arlin Buckwalter for more details by email at email@example.com by April 30, 2018.
All individuals who are planning to attend are asked to register prior to the event via our website. Registration is now available until June 17, 2018, at midnight.
We look forward to welcoming you at Messiah College in the near future! Questions? Please contact Bridget Nace, conference registrar, at (717) 697-2634 ext. 5437 or via email if you have any questions.
