We are delighted to announce Awaken: BIC Network for Women in Ministry will be hosting a leadership conference just prior to General Assembly 2018, Friday, July 13, 2018, Grantham Church, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.

Katelyn Beaty — an editor at large at Christianity Today — will be presenting the plenary session. Previously serving as the youngest and first female managing editor for Christianity Today, Katelyn launched what is now the CT Women website. An author and an InterVarsity Press freelance acquisitions editor, Katelyn writes and speaks on faith and work, women’s vocation, and Evangelicalism.

“Katelyn has a dynamic platform from which to inspire our denomination’s leadership,” said Pauline Peifer, executive director of Awaken. “We are looking forward to having her present, as well as dialogue with us during our Q&A session.”

Open to men and women, Awaken’s half-day leadership conference will qualify as lifelong BIC learning credit for BIC U.S. pastors. Along with Katelyn’s presentation and a Q&A session, the seminar will provide lunch — as well as offer worship and a time to honor BIC women in ministry.

“I believe this conference presents a unique opportunity to celebrate women in ministry across the denomination,” said Pauline.

General Assembly 2018 Sessions

Originally, the Awaken conference was one of two study days providing lifelong BIC learning credit surrounding General Assembly 2018: The other being a seminar hosted by the Commission on Ministry and Doctrine.

To enable more people to attend the Commission on Ministry and Doctrine’s study day, leadership has decided to make the discussion — focused on the relationship between God’s sovereignty and man’s free will — a breakout session during General Assembly 2018.

In light of the Awaken conference, as well as the breakout sessions and other programming at General Assembly 2018, no Impact Seminars will occur in 2018.

Registration for General Assembly 2018 (July 13-16, 2018, Messiah College) and Awaken (July 13, 2018) opens end of March through the BIC U.S. website.
