We celebrate P. and H.R.* having moved from Wisconsin in December 2017 to begin providing hospitality and friendship to the international community of Lexington, Kentucky.
Offering homestays for international students attending area colleges, the R.’s are also helping recruit other loving families to do the same. They plan to teach English as a second language (ESL), mentor students, and provide practical assistance to internationals adjusting to life in the United States.
In their first year in Lexington, P. and H.R. are planning to take ESL training and make connections within the international community while P. finishes up working part time in IT compliance. They expect to begin hosting students in their home in the near future.
Here are current challenges for P. and H.R. for which they would appreciate your prayer and support.
- Finding and completing excellent training in teaching ESL
- Building connections within the international community
- Navigating cross-cultural nuances when working with the international community
- Raising financial support
